banquets - Portland, OR

What are these banquets intended to accomplish?

Cashew nuts are one of the primary agricultural products of Guinea-Bissau. LEAD is undertaking research and development of local programs that help start up new businesses. If local cooperation and coordination can be developed increased farming and processing of cashews will greatly improve the lives of hundreds of families throughout the country.

Each banquet has specific objectives. At this time, we are raising funds to offset capital needs of graduates of the LEAD/Djonde training center. It is explained below.

To Help - One of the best ways you can help the people in Guinea-Bissau is by sponsoring a table (Portland table cost $425 - click here to donate) for a total of 8 people. If you cannot sponsor a table but would like to help, invite people that you believe will be interested in helping meet humanitarian needs through private enterprise.

Funding Students - starting businesses - The proceeds of this banquet will be applied funding graduates of the LEAD/Djonde cashew processing trade school. With enough funds given at the banquet we could start up to 15 small businesses. Each one in a short time may have the capacity to hire three or four workers. The graduates will each learn capital creation by being coached in raising funds for their own companies prior to LEAD's financial partnership. This insures that your contribution is managed well, and that the students have a high level of self-satisfaction in their growing capabilities as an entreprenuer.
